European Sauna Marathon 2026 Program

 

Friday, 06.02.

  • 17:00 – Central Square marketplace area opens and the saunas are warming up. There will be contests for “Best Sauna Burger,” “Sauna Aroma,” “Best Whisk,” and “Most Special Whisk.”

  • 18:00 – The musical program begins on stage.

  • 19:00 – Sauna Village opens to European Sauna Marathon participants in Otepää’s town square.

  • 20:00 – The programme of sauna masters and sauna rituals begins in the large tent, with demonstrations every half hour.

  • 21:30 – Concert on the outdoor stage.

  • 23:00 – End of the day.

 

Saturday, 07.02.

  • 8:30–10:30 – Registration is open at Otepää Gymnasium’s sports hall (Mäe 23). Teams will receive wristbands and car stickers, and sign a team confirmation sheet.

  • 10:00–13:00 – Local producers’ fair at Otepää’s central square.

  • 11:00–12:00 – European Sauna Marathon starts in groups of 20 teams, according to the start list.

  • 15:00–18:30 – The finish is open at Otepää Gymnasium’s sports hall. Participants can wash up and change clothes here. There will also be outdoor dining provided by BBQ chefs.

  • 18:00–01:00 – The official after-party and award ceremony for the European Sauna Marathon takes place at Otepää Gymnasium’s sports hall. The buffet will be open.

 

A hit parade will be set off by guest DJ Rauno Märks, turning Otepää into a one-night-only disco in the winter capital.

Entrance to the after-party is free with a marathon participant wristband. For other guests, the ticket price is €10.

Please note: Tickets are sold only on-site and in cash. Attendees must be 18 years or older.

The European Sauna Marathon is organized by the NGO Otepää Sport in cooperation with the Otepää Municipal Government and sponsors. The organizers reserve the right to make changes to all the information provided on the website and to inform participants in a written, reproducible form before the event. The organizers do not promote the consumption of alcohol or the violation of traffic rules with this event. The goal is to preserve and develop Estonian sauna culture in a unique and athletic festival format. The organizer reserves the right to use all photographic and video material for marketing the event. If individuals in photos or video clips wish to have their images removed, they are requested to do so via email at info@saunamaraton.com.
